Game Design - Portfolio

Today was a start at making the trailer. I don't have custom units nor do I have an introduction created for this trailer. However I have managed to capture the ending with the map I created the other day.

The only problem was that I could seem to get the ending for the video exactly how I wanted. What I had envisioned was the map would zoom out to show a plant, then it would fade into an image of a plant on a white background for a few seconds with text fading it. Though after using and looking up tutorials for Sony Vegas 8 I could find any techniques to do this method. I would get the text to fade in, but only to a plain white background. In the end I just created an image to make both Text and Plant Image fade in at the same time.

It still creates the same effect that I wanted to show, so its a compromise I am willing to make.

Game Design - Portfolio

Today was the creation of the Map. I know I said I was going to do it over the weekend, but it was Easter and I needed the time to celebrate it.

Overall the layout of the Map when without too many problems. Image below showed my biggest problem of me creating an island and it coming out with lumps everywhere and it made such a mess that I started the map over:



Other than that I got the layout looking ok, I made some changes to the logo to go with the end product of the map:

I like this change as the leaf falling off is linked to the leaf falling out an the introduction of the trailer. Also links to the war that nature has to face. Overall I like the change I made.

Game Design - Portfolio

UPDATE:

Just a quick update on progress on the SupCom work, in that there isn't any. The patches and map editor took so long its almost pointless starting work on making the map at this stage in the day.

Will make the map tomorrow instead.

Game Design - Portfolio

the task set before me was to create a product using Supreme Commander's Editor. The first few weeks were just brainstorming with something set with the theme of "Nature vs Machine"

Once I had created a video pitch for my idea of making a trailer based on this theme using SupCom editor, while including other software, I had to wait for the go ahead before I could make it.

The last few weeks have been getting random tutorials on techniques that could be using when creating these trailers. However today is the first day I make a start on this project.

Right now I trying to get the games editor, which hasn't gone smoothly. I have had to update the game with it's latest patches and is taking longer than expected. This has given me time to re-read tutorials from previous lessons.

The plan today is to make my Map which I will be using in the trailer.
